This article reviews the Comprehensive Atlas of the Tajik SSR, published in 1968 by a team of republican scholars to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. The atlas systematically presents the natural conditions and resources, population, economy, culture, and history of Tajikistan. It contains 179 maps along with numerous diagrams, profiles, and explanatory texts. The physical geography section (53% of the atlas) is particularly detailed, featuring first-time thematic maps on neotectonics, paleogeography, modern glaciation, seismic zoning, mudflows, and avalanches. The economic section reflects achievements in industrialization and agriculture, while the cultural section documents progress in education and healthcare. The article concludes that the atlas serves as an important scientific reference for studying the republic, noting certain content and cartographic shortcomings but overall assessing it highly.
