J. Rutkowski · 1996
Rutkowski traces the compilation of Atlas Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej to an initiative for a new national atlas prompted by public interest in its predecessor and the rapid ageing of some of that atlas’s maps. The project received support from the national geodesy and cartography authority and was initially agreed under the title Atlas Polskiej Rzeczypospolitej Ludowej. Political, economic and social changes in 1989–1992 delayed work; a new agreement in 1992 enabled compilation to resume under editor-in-chief M. Najgrakowski. At the time of Rutkowski’s May 1995 presentation, work was reported to be 50% complete.
