In their historical account, the authors describe the Atlas de Cuba “XX Aniversario,” dated 1979 in the article, as a scientific atlas for a broad readership compiled by the Instituto Cubano de Geodesia y Cartografía, with 70 maps across 167 pages. They report contributions from more than 40 agencies and institutions and wide circulation in Cuba, particularly in education. They single out its 1:300,000 general geographical map for its extensive information and professionally prepared place names, describing it as a widely used and exceptionally useful reference.
